GSS Car Rental – General Terms & Conditions to rent a car in Georgia
Please read the following terms carefully before completing your booking. By checking the box, you agree to these conditions and confirm that you have reviewed the details of your rental.
Rental Period and Payment
- The minimum rental period is 72 hours (3 days).
- All rentals include comprehensive insurance and taxes as required under Georgian law.
- A security deposit of $200 (or GEL equivalent) is required in cash when picking up the car.
- Full rental payment must be made by card or bank transfer upon pickup.
Pickup, Drop-off, and Vehicle Condition
- You will receive the exact car model confirmed in your booking.
- The vehicle will be fully fueled and clean, and a joint inspection will be conducted at pickup.
- All booked extras (e.g., child seat, Wi-Fi, rooftop tent) will be provided.
- Return the car in the same condition, with the same fuel level and clean interior to avoid additional fees.
Driving Rules and Restrictions
- Driving on damaged or off-road terrain is prohibited for sedans and minivans.
- Even for 4x4 vehicles, certain roads are off-limits, such as:
- Pshaveli–Omalo | Ananuri–Shatili | Vashlovani Nature Reserve | Akhaltsikhe-Khulo-Batumi | Bakuriani-Tabatskuri | Chobiskhevi-Kahisi Lake near Borjomi | Koruldi Lakes in Mestia | Mountain road to Truso travertines monument
- Driving in restricted areas results in a $500 penalty.
- If returned more than 2 hours late, a full day’s fee applies.
Accidents and Insurance
In case of road traffic accident or any other damage to the car immediately:
Contact GSS Car Rental, then Dial 112 to contact the (Police), If you're unable to connect, our support team will help coordinate with the emergency services. If you are not blocking the road, or not obstructing traffic and its safe, stay at the scene and do not move the vehicle until police arrive. Failure to follow this process voids the insurance. Any unreported or post-rental damage will be charged to the customer.
General Responsibilities
- Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Never leave keys in the car; lock all doors and windows when unattended.
- You are responsible for traffic fines, fuel level, and safe operation of the vehicle.
- Both parties are bound by Georgian law during the rental period.
Booking Agreement
- These terms apply to all rentals and must be accepted before booking confirmation.
- GSS Car Rental reserves the right to amend terms in writing only.
- The original rental contract is signed upon pickup and includes all conditions.
Delivery & Collection
- Delivery/Collection service is on request.
- Within Old Tbilisi city center it is free of charge
- Outside of Old Tbilisi city center is an extra charge
- Kutaisi or Batumi airport/city Delivery/collection is an extra charge.
Car Rental Insurance details
- All vehicles rented from GSS Car Rental are insured through ALDAGI Insurance Company, one of the leading insurance providers in Georgia. Our insurance coverage is designed to protect both the driver and third parties while driving in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and across the country.
What is included in your rental insurance:
- Collision Damage Coverage
If an accident happens and the driver is at fault, the maximum deductible (excess) is 200 USD.
If the police report does not indicate the driver as responsible, the deductible is 0 USD. - Third Party Liability (TPL)
Damage to other vehicles or property is insured up to 30,000 USD within Georgia.
Full Insurance is not included in your rental its Optional:
Full Insurance is an optional protection service that reduces your financial responsibility in case of an accident caused by the driver. When Full Insurance is selected during the booking process, the renter pays a fixed daily fee and the standard insurance excess amount of 200 USD is waived. This means the renter is not responsible for paying the 200 USD insurance excess if an accident occurs and the driver is at fault, provided that all rental terms are respected.
Key conditions of Full Insurance:
- Full Insurance removes the renter’s responsibility for the 200 USD insurance excess only.
- All other insurance terms and rental conditions remain unchanged.
- A police report is mandatory in every accident case.
- If a police report is not provided, Full Insurance is considered invalid and the renter remains responsible for all damages according to standard rental terms
Example:
If a vehicle is rented for 5 days and the Full Insurance fee is 15 USD per day, the total Full Insurance cost is 75 USD.
- Rental period: 5 days
- Full Insurance cost: 15 USD per day
- Total paid for Full Insurance: 75 USD
If an accident occurs and the driver is responsible, the renter does not pay the 200 USD insurance excess because it has already been covered through the Full Insurance payment.
Full Insurance is charged per rental day, up to a maximum total amount of 150 USD per rental. If the calculated Full Insurance cost exceeds 150 USD, the customer will pay only 150 USD for the entire rental period.
When Full Insurance is selected during the booking process, no security deposit is required at vehicle pickup,
Mandatory Police Report
In case of an accident or any damage to the vehicle you will need to stop the car immediately and call GSS Car Rental, according to the damage type we will estimate if the police involvement is required. If you cannot reach us, you will need to call the police directly 112 and obtain an official police report.
Without a police report, insurance coverage becomes invalid!
Important Information for Armenia Border Crossing
Our Georgian insurance does not cover Third Party Liability (TPL) in Armenia.
If you plan to drive from Georgia to Armenia, you must purchase short-term Armenian TPL insurance at the border. This insurance is mandatory for all foreign vehicles entering Armenia.
